to a packaging problem. 

The initial objective was to offer a robust sub-structure or machine base capable of carrying drives, motors, controls, stack lights and related hardware necessary to pack cases of plastic
parts in an injection molding operation.

Case Studies

The University of Akron’s Mechanical Engineering Department came to item with a unique application involving the use of high-speed photography to determine the distortion of metal sealing rings.

At the start of this project, Akron engineers quickly realized that standard photography tripods were not sturdy enough to deliver top quality results in high-speed applications.

A successful ongoing relationship with item North America lead Akron engineers to make a phone call and visit to item’s North American Headquarters just a few miles from the University campus.

WARDJet’s goal is to design and build CNC gantry systems that are recognized as the leading waterjet cutting platform in the industry. In early 2005, WARDJet contacted item North America’s engineering department for assistance in developing a system that would travel at fast speeds and remain light weight with high acceleration/deceleration capabilities, while sustaining the ability to withstand the aggressive environment of abrasive waterjet cutting.

NUTRO Corp., a Cleveland-Based integrator and machine builder, provides automated finishing systems for a variety of industries, including the automotive industry. NUTRO has integrated several machines that are involved in the finishing process of brake rotors. However, the product line has recently changed, making there former finishing process obsolete. NUTRO needed to develop a new, more efficient way to transfer the rotors from one finishing process to the next. Because of the new shape of the brake rotor, NUTRO decided it would be best to use the item system in a pick and place or transfer application.
