Case Studies: Process Protection
A worldwide manufacturer, with operations in Mentor, OH, wanted to prevent a critical step in the manufacturing process from being seen by visitors. This is normally a simple solution, not in this case though. Curtains, partitions, or any other "standard" vision obstruction would not do in this case. Due to the size, shape and space restrictions of the area they wanted to protect, nothing but a custom solution by item would solve the problem.

What the customer required...

item was asked to provide a multi-functional solution. The customer was not only concerned about style; safety and accessibility were critical as well. All three of their requirements were easily met using mostly item's standard components. There was only one element of the project that item relied on an outside supplier for, the mirrored acrylic polycarbonate.

STYLE. item profiles come standard with clear anodizing. This will make any project stand out compared to a steel structure. This finish will also allow any structure to "look like new" for years to come. The strength and versatility of item profiles are a plus in any application; the great look is another added benefit.

SAFETY. While protecting your processes from exposure, protect your maintenance and operation crews from injury. Aside from custom machine building, item provides a wide variety of custom enclosures for robotics, hydraulic / pneumatic presses, and other highly automated pieces of equipment. item sales and engineering will design an enclosure to fit around, under, over, or attached to your machine. What ever your design and space requirements are, item will be able to build a custom solution to fit.

ACCESSABILITY. It was very important for our customer to gain access to several parts of this machine. Man doors, bi-fold doors, sliding doors, removable panels, and access panels are all possible options. item has the ability to build a door or removable panel in any size that you or your customer may require. With item, you can gain access at any point of your enclosure.
